With many tired heads by the end of the meal, a high number of students took themselves to bed before the official bedtime! This permitted fantastic punctuality for the 7.15 breakfast where the croissants, pain au chocolate, yoghurts, cereal and fruit were decimated rapidly.
A quick turn around after breakfast and everyone met outside to don their skis and meet their new instructors for the week. Each group was whisked away for a two hour morning lesson beneath the blistering sunshine, where the four beginner groups quickly mastered the snow plough and were introduced to the "magic carpet". The advanced groups were allowed to ski straight to the boot room before the two hour lunch break where we all refuelled on burgers and chips!
In the afternoon there was 100% attendance for the lessons with the earlier fatigue being overcome. The snow conditions meant most of the slopes were excellent for making good progress on the skis, with many of the groups heading to the top slopes in Les Menuires to perfect their techniques.
A tiring day on the slopes came to an end only for another activity to take place. Speed mountain is a self controlled roller coaster where two thirds of the students decided to test their nerve and control the speed of their decent. One free ride wasn't enough for some of the daredevils, as they paid out 7 euros for a second go!
Dinner came with a few awards for the students that stood out throughout the first day. We also celebrated two birthdays with surprise cake and singing, to round off the meal.
Have a look at some of our photos from the day.
